When I was a kid I had a pacifier. Back then it was thought that it strengthened a baby's muscles in the face, mouth, lips and tongue. When I was raising my babies the latest then was that a pacifier wasn't good for a baby. It pulled the jawline forward and could cause buck teeth. It was pointed out that the nipple on a bottle could do the same thing. So they came out with all new kinds of nipples. I think it was just a marketing blitz to get parents to buy, buy, buy!
If it wasn't for pacifier's, especially when they were teething (because there were the rings that you could freeze and let them suck on) I don't think I could have gotten through all the pain and tears that tey were going through.
Do your kids use pacifiers? Do you use it to keep the baby quiet, which most parents do (come on, don't say you don't!) or do you keep the pacifier away from the baby? Do you try all the different kinds of nipples out there?
