Here are some quickies of mine.


Myself - I was the 3rd kid of my mothers, she knew she was in early labor all day, but decided to finish getting last minute shopping done first, went home, got a bath, and the doctor called going "Where are you", she told him she had to shave and bathe first. She gets to the hosp, with my father, he gets her in a wheel chair, they take her in and get her setup, he is parking the car, I am coming breech *yep* and since she waited so long, she was unable to get any meds or be able to have the doctor turn me, so she had me when she was 35, no meds, breech in 15 minutes. My father comes back from getting the car parked and I was already born! :)

My son - early labor for 3 days, no dilate til 2 1/2 days later (stuck at 1cm), finally the doctors tell me they are going to C section me, 2 hours later, I'm ready to start pushing (think that was a scare tactic of them still), hardcore pushing, he was born 45 minutes later. Epidural are nice. :0

My girl - early labor 3 weeks, wake up 4am, time contractions til 5am, call doctor and hosp tell them I will be there shortly (I was really clam, funny still to this day), I am walking around the house, getting the bags together, getting my clothes on/etc, let my guy sleep in til about 6:20 (his alarm goes off at 6:30) and I wake him up and tell him "Your not going to work today", we get to the hospital about 7am, I wanted something in my stomach first, so we hit up Micky D's, I had 1/2 a breakfast biscuit and a vanilla shake. We go in, get setup, about 7:30 I'm about 4cm. I am chilling in my labor room til about 9am, find out there is a baby boom this week, all rooms are full, and the only two epidural doctors are in an ER with a lady with twins! I get my epi when I am 9.5cm (OMG THE PAIN) about 30 minutes before my girl was born at almost 2pm. :)

Here is a story short from my third pregnancy.I went into labor after my son ,age 5 at the time, wanted to buy Easter egg coloring for Easter the next day.Off I went shopping ,he and I,for easter egg colors. Not long after we arrive at our first store ,I start cramping. So here I am hobbling along looking for colors which have all bee sold out.We went to 3 stores with no luck meanwhile the contractions are getting worse. The last store we stopped at had the colors and we went straight home.I delivered a baby Girl Easter morning at sun rise.

Thanks for sharing Alexis! We were worried my son was breech and you can't find anyone anymore who will deliver a breech baby vaginally, so that was our plan if it happened, to show up with a breech baby ready to deliver so we could avoid a section. That's the only way you could do it and still deliver without surgery.

I birthed my rainbow child on a bearskin rug in a mountain cave deep in the Himalayas. It didn't hurt. I was pretty numb from all the marijuana.

Did you know that the Marijuana crosses the placenta ?Your baby was born with that in its system.:rolleyes:

My firstborn arrived 3 weeks early - I shouldn't have decided to turn mattresses and spring clean (it was December after all) - prior to visitors coming for Christmas.

I woke with a niggly backache but went back to sleep. Eventually, got up around 8am only to realize my waters had broken.

We didn't have a telephone so I nudged my husband who, cool as a cucumber (not) rushed round the bedroom opening and slamming drawers until he found just the outfit to wear to run down the road to the call box. The outfit he picked out for the moment was an old shirt he found wrapped round the hot water tank and therefore stiff with age and very, very creased, and a pair of pants yanked from the bottom of the laundry basket.

Finally, we got into the taxi he'd flagged down as he was rushing from the phone box (come to think of it, I have no idea who he did actually call to take me to the hospital .... no matter, too late now) and we got into the back of the taxi. I remember the radio was on and Johnny Mathis was singing 'When a child is born" (sweet).

We got to the hospital and I settled in. In those days husbands were not encouraged to attend the birth and, quite frankly, it was something I preferred to do quietly and with dignity rather than all the shouting and swearing that all tv births seem to portray.

At the height of my labor pains I do recall wishing I'd said "Not tonight, dear" on the night our son was conceived but, after only 4 hours of labor, our darling son was put into my arms and he looked at me with big, blue eyes and my son and I formed a bond that, even now over 30 years later, is as strong as ever.

My labor wasn't all that long, but my story is!

My first pregnancy ended with me being in labor for 19 hours and then being told I would need a C-section b/c my son was too big to deliver naturally. Hmmm, perhaps a second ultrasound done long after the first and only one at twenty weeks might have prevented all those long hours of labor. Luckily, my son was born a healthy 9lb 12 1/2oz, 22 in bundle of joy. My second pregnancy I had a better doctor who actually cared for his patients. He let me pick the day for my second C-section and my 8lb 11oz, 21 in baby girl was born without a hitch! Funny, how two doctors who have done the exact same job for many years can be so different towards a patient.
