What were or is your worse fear while being pregnant? Mine was the fact that my sister in-law on my husband's side of the family, had a dwarf baby. I was terrified it was something coming from his side of the family. I was so afraid of giving birth with that defect that I did not want any more babies. Then I found I was pregnant ,I cried. As if turned out the baby, a girl, was great, no defects at all.:o

My greatest fears of having a baby are also the possible defects and disabilities. I can't afford to look at my child incompetent to others. As much as possible I am doing everything that will make them healthy and strong.

I had a friend who drank . She was an alcoholic,and her baby had the fetal alcohol syndrome. I smoked with all mine but only had 1 drink with one of mine and a few with my first one. All mine were born normal. After the first 2 I did not drink while pregnant but I did smoke. That accounted for the birth weight I guess .My smallest was 5'15" . My sister smoked and hers all weighted 8 lbs .:cool:

I feared Spina Bifida as there is a high tendency to it in my family. There is no genetic cause of this, but there are other issues that can increase the risk of developing it.

I lost a brother to it, my mother survives with it with minimal problems, I have surviving cousin with it, and lost two other cousins to it (both males, and to different mothers). In the generation above my mother there were several deaths to it too.

But still, as long as my daughter survived I would have been happy.
