View Full Version : Picking a babysitter

Besides my mother and my sister, who have both been around children forever, what should I be looking for when choosing a baby sitter? I know for myself, it has to be someone I know and trust. Has anyone ever used a babysitting service? Since I am a new mother, my trust level is kind of odd (I'm not sure how else to say it). I know all these people are adequate for the care of my child, but I am still having issues with separation, I think that is the main reason why I am having problems leaving my baby with just anyone.

there are so many horror stories out there of what babysitters do with children :( I think we are going to just stick with family. Whats nice for us is both our familys are big and at any given point we could choose between 5 different family members who will watch ours if needed. I think if we ever needed one a regular basis we could even find someone in the family to pay to watch often but for just here and there no one would charge us.

You never actually know who you can trust. Family can hurt a child as easily as a stranger. Make sure you get references, that's really all I know to suggest.

What do you do when you trust the person fully, but they have a health condition, such as myself - epilepsy?
