View Full Version : Post Partum Weight Loss

I gained rather a lot of weight with the twins, and I am desperate to lose it. I don't want to jeopardise nursing though.

When would be ok to start considering cutting my diet a little tighter? And since I am still nursing, how long is a reasonable time to aim for, to lose what I need to?

You might want to talk with a doctor about this, everyone is a little different. I am short and a little chunky, but nothing that would affect my health or anything. I don't nurse either, we only nursed for six months and then stopped, so I think you should really talk to a professional. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I have always liked walking myself, not too much into other exercise. I give my weekends to my mom friends and take morning-mid lunch time walks with them, and also help and push the stroller. I think when the support is there, its better, when your on your own you worry too much. Get some friends together and walk it out!

Thanks for the answers. I am not much of a fan for asking my doctor's permission to do this that and the other, so I don't go often enough for asking about this.

I'll just take it easy for a while and see how it goes.

Don't stress it! As long as you are nursing twins and eating healthy the weight will take care of itself.
I read once that nursing a 4 month old requires 1000 calories! That is the calories for the baby and the calories to make the milk. When you have 2 babies you can double that. So like I said you probably don't have anything to worry about.

I would say that as long as you are nursing, just eat right and don't bother with the weight just yet. Your health is more important in this stage, I wouldn't try any diets till you and the baby are safer (meaning more time passed since birth). After you stop nursing and you get a bit stronger on your feet (I am sure giving birth wasn't quite a walk in the park), only then you can consider some exercise and a bit or more restrictive diet, but again, nothing too hard on your body ... my opinion ;)
