My mom potty trained my sister. since she doesnt work it was clearly the easiest way to do things. It took some time but all in all it went pretty well.

I went looking for some of the titles for potty training for toddlers. I never realized just how potty humor started early.....lol Some of these titles I couldn't read with a straight face.

1) Potty by Mylo Freeman
If your child is an animal lover, this book will strike a chord. Animals in the jungle happen upon a potty, and like the glass slipper in Cinderella, only the best bottom will fit. Each animal tries, but the potty only fits when a young African boy comes along to claim the "throne." The animals have no hard feelings, though, and help the boy with suggestions on how to use the new contraption.

2) It's Potty Time
This book is part of a series of books that present life events in a very matter-of-fact way. The pictures are clear and colorful and the text offers encouragement and will help bolster your child's confidence. In addition, it's a board book, so it will stand up to many hours in the bathroom.

3) I Want My Potty by Tony Ross
This board book about a princess who is sick and tired of wearing diapers will appeal to many toddlers, especially any little divas out there. The princess finds that using the potty is the best way to rid herself of the diapers, even if it isn't always easy.

4) Koko Bear's New Potty by Vicki Lansky
Known for her parenting books, author Vicki Lansky has put together this book that parents and children can read together about potty training. Koko, a bear, learns that potty training is just one more thing that goes along with growing up and experiences success and setback along the way.

5) Lift the Lid, Use the Potty! by Annie Ingle
This board book is interactive with flaps to lift and stickers that can serve as rewards. The book follows a bunny with a new potty and is written in a step-by-step manner that will appeal to those children who do well with structure and routine.

6) On Your Potty! by Virginia Miller
If your toddlers seems ready for potty training, but seems indifferent about getting started, perhaps this book can help generate that missing interest.

7) Once Upon a Potty (BOYS) by Alona Frankel
This book is one of the first books available to children about using the potty, and it is no surprise that it has been established as a classic. It contains simple, colorful artwork that still manages to depict "poop" in very real terms. It also does a great job of incorporating parents into the process of moving from diapers to the toilet.

8) Once Upon a Potty (GIRLS) by Alona Frankel
Like the boy's version above, this book has all the same great features. In addition, both books are available on DVD and VHS.

9) The Toddler's Potty Book by Alida Allison
This book is another classic potty training book. It was written in 1978, but was recently updated and is available as a durable board book. The tone of this book is especially directed toward toddlers who might be reluctant to start using the potty.

10) What to Expect When You Use the Potty by Heidi Murkoff
It's like a FAQ for potty-trainers-to-be. If you liked the What to Expect series for parents, chances are you'll like this book, and so will your child. There are many books in the children's series that cover major life events, so now is a good time to introduce the "Angus the Answer Dog." This book is especially helpful for the serious toddler, who approaches things in a more logical or scientific way.

It really didn't take much to train my kids. They caught on quickly.

I think parents should share in the responsibility of potty training. It took both of them to bring this child into the world, both of them should be raising him/her. Potty training isn't rocket science.... even a man should be able to do it. ;)
