I remember playing cowboys and indians, army, house. I don't see the kids of today playing games like that anymore or if they do it's just not like we played it.
Is playing pretend games just as important to kids of today as it was for us? Is it something that has been forgotten because of the technology age?

I remember being in kindergarten and playing house. We also played dress-up. I was always THE QUEEN...lol I don't think that they do that in school anymore at least I don't remember seeing a playhouse in the classroom like there was for me when I went.
I think girls still do play house and boys pretend that they are whatever the current VG character is. My son pretended that all the TMNT's were his brothers. Maybe it is something that should be pushed just a littel more. Pretending was fun... I AM STILL THE QUEEN...lol

I think it's up to the parents to encourage pretend play and not just rely on technology all the time. I had so much fun playing house and playing dress-up when I was little. I want my kids to experience that. I have a friend who goes to thrift shops and buys fancy gowns for her little girl to play dress-up with. They're usually very inexpensive and the little girl just loves it. She also has fancy hats and feather boas and high heel shoes. My friend is a SAHM so she'll play teaparty with her little girl. I hope I'm that kind of mom.
