Well, not really :) but it got your attention huh?

Anyway, this thread is not intended to make my parents look bad. Just a silly thread about a child's view of the world.

When I was kid, we'd go to West Virginia to visit relatives every summer. We always stayed with my dad's uncle. They had a 3 bedroom house, they had one, my parents got one, and my grandma got the last one. I had to sleep on the sofa in the front room.

Every year, without fail, these people would start talking about Rattlesnake Hollow. This was a road within walking distance of my great uncle's front door. Lots of paranormal activity happened in Rattlesnake Hollow. Some of it was witnessed by my dad, his uncle, and my grandma (dad's mom). Anyway... the conversation almost always ended with "well, it's about time we get some sleep". Which meant a scared child, all alone, on the front room sofa.

Anyone else have a similar story to share? :)

lol, you poor thing...did they do that on purpose to mess with you or did they really think you had gone to sleep?

haha, oi. My grandma let me watch my first scary movie ever one summer when I was with her and sleeping in her attic. It was nightmare on elm street. The only movie that ever scared me, and duh, I was like, 6. I freaked. What was she thinking?

There is some type of story in my friends family, and I don't remember all of it, but at the end someone it involves an old lady that will take your toes when you are asleep if you do not keep them covered the entire night. His family started telling all the children this at a very early age, and now everyone covers their feet at night. :)

They did it on purpose, I was always wide awake. But I don't think it was to intentionally scare me.. just gave the old folks something to talk about.

It's really odd, but even scary movies never scared me quite as bad as those ghost stories did. Probably because they happened close by. I always thought that since Rattlesnake Hollow was so closeby, the ghost could just so easily wander down to my great uncle's house. lol

Didn't really scare me, but apparently this one time we were out at my trailer and my dad was playing my Super Mario Land for my Gameboy (this was like, over 10 years ago must be anyways) and something told him to turn around and open the blinds and there was a bear right in front of him.

So he ran into the kitchen and grabbed pots and pans and banged them together to scare the thing away. My mom woke up - as for me, I slept thru the entire thing.

Was it fake or real? No idea.
