My cousin just had their baby. I visited them just lately and we chat about things. One of the things that we talked about is the schedule for breastfeeding, that was when the baby cried and she went inside the room where the baby is.

Should there be a time for the baby to eat or whenever it cries, you have to go there and feed the baby?

Babies eat when they are hungry at that age. As they get older you can make more a *schedule* I suppose, but the first few months it really is on demand.

Breastfeeding should always be done on demand. Breastmilk digests very fast and babies use that energy up so fast just to grow and develop you wouldn't believe it. This is actually another reason breastmilk is better than formula. Formula doesn't digest as easy and fast for the baby to use it as effectively for development. Forcing a breastfeeding schedule is one of the top causes of breastfeeding failure also, baby isn't getting enough when he needs it, mom isn't producing enough for the lack of proper frequency of stimulation.

Totally. Breastfeeding should always be on demand. At any age. Just like you would give a kid who is not being breastfed a snack at almost anytime. You just shouldn't force any sort of schedule for feeding.

Breast milk is easier to digest, and why many babies are hungry more often and feed more. I have never been able to do it myself, but from those I know that have, most go around the babies schedule, not their own. It ends up being simpler for the newborn.

I agree with alexis, some mothers don't have the luxury of feeding their babies all the time so they would have to resort to scheduling the baby for breastfeeding. And from my own opinion, scheduling a baby to be breastfed is a good start for the baby to learn discipline.
