View Full Version : Sleeping Tips

Insomnia

I haven't slept well since the day I conceived. I am exhausted, totally, to the point that I barely function.

Any tips for sleeping in the second trimester would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what your body is undergoing with your pregnancy but you can still do some things that can make you sleepy. Reading is one of the things that makes me sleepy, for it has been researched that the eyes takes up much energy. Drinking milk will also enhance your sleep. And you must have a regular time for sleeping for your body has its own clock on what time to sleep and to wake up. If there is no regular pattern of sleeping time, the body cannot set the correct schedule for sleeping.

Reading does not work for everyone-it stimulates me. If you are the same then perhaps some gentle music would help.

What I find helps is yellow light. Studies were done on tinnitus sufferers, trying to find ways to help them sleep. Blue light (as is present in afternoon sun) stops your pineal gland from producing melatonin (which makes you sleepy). So stopping the blue light helps you to naturally fall asleep.

I simply got a high quality (2 for $1.49!!!) yellow light bulb, low wattage. This mimics the conditions of sun down-when naturally we SHOULD be going to sleep, and I sleep much better.
