If you're into spooky/horror movies, how do you plan on introducing your kids to them? I went with the harmless ghost stories like Lady in White with Katherine Helmond. It was just a good old fashioned ghost story.
For the horror movie, I went with the oldie Frankenstein with Boris Karloff. Both of them were hide your face and laugh about it. I would gage how they took those movies and if they seemed to like them I would move up the chain. My son was the one that would hide behind the sofa on the ghost story. They were both about 3 before I brought the movies out. That was around Halloween.

My hubby let my kids watch Hell Raiser. I could have killed him! Pin Head gave my daughter nightmares for weeks.

Well seeing as how I dont like horor movies I wont show my kid them. If my girl chooses to watch them when she's older, thats fine, but I wont show her any. I dont see the point in getting scared for fun????
I don't think it's appropriate for children to watch these movies at all. It saddens me that horror movies now are PG-13.
When I was 13 Mom dropped me and my best friend off at the theater to see Grease 2 for the millionth time. The theater wouldn't sell us tickets because that day it was a double feature with Road Warrior, Rated R. Trust us, we have no interest in Road Warrior; we want to drool over Adrian Zmed and leave. Nope. The only other PG movie was Poltergeist. I had never been so afraid in my life. My stuffed dog fell under my bed and Banana stayed there for three weeks until Mom got it for me.
Poltergeist scared me too. My legs were shaking so bad I could barely walk out of the theater. Definitely not a movie for kids. It should have been rated R. I don't think little kids should watch horror movies. Their imaginations can conjur up scary enough dreams without any help.

My kids were never really into movies until their teen years, then they got into the thrillers.
I hate scary movies, so I won't expose him to any at my house. However if he wants to rent a scary movie and watch with his friends, he is welcome to.
Scare the beejees out of them of course!
Hey heres the deal, I am 27 my two older sisters are 44 and 40 right now (different fathers), they scared me tons when I was little, husbands Aunt (who we visited this evening) scared him a ton when he was smaller, why would we break tradition?
I can say though, after master of puppets, I don't deal with puppets/dolls in my house any longer. :D

i LOVE scary movies. I watched them with my son in my lap til he started reacting to them. I think that was about 2.5. We just keep a close eye on his reaction to whatever we are watching, and if he is uneasy we switch it.
