I've heard lots of women get stretch marks from the skin stretching so much as the baby grows. Are their ways to prevent them or to get rid of them once you get them.

You can try rubbing them lotion and keep hydrated by drinking lots of water so the skin CAN stretch and it wont hurt as much. But some women are going to get them no matter what.
As for after, there are lotions you can use, but I don't know if any of them actually work.
I wear my stretch marks with pride, lol. ;) They do go *down* after a bit and aren't so noticeable.
They might not be as noticeable, but they will always be there. I got marks, before I was pregnant from having a height spurt in my early teens (on hips, and still painful sometimes, like pins & needles). As for two children later, oddly the marks I got from them, are inside my belly button, so unless your close to me, you will never know. I got off lucky that way, but as for the hip ones, if I sleep on one side for too long, they ache when I wake up. Grrr, anyone know what can be done for this?

I didn't get any stretch marks? But I also drink so much water my friends joke about how they are afraid to press on me cause water might seep out my pores :D When it comes to stretching it's about elasticity of your skin. If you can increase that you'll have less stretch marks when there is fast stretching of your skin.
Stretch marks are just a part of pregnancy. Almost every woman gets them. Shoot I have them on my ankles now, and I haven't even got a clue WHY?!
Even though I hate to admit it, yes I got some too, but I have been told that this affects thinner women more (less skin/fatty area). I also ending up getting a bigger almost everything if you can guess what I mean!

I have them on my breasts, on my tummy and on my tush. I drank lots of water, and tried lotions, but, alas, still got them.
I dont think they are THAT big a deal. If you tan, naturally or fake bake, they will fade in some and not be as noticeable.

Thanks everyone. I will continue to drink lots of water. I do that anyway. And I will try using lotion to keep my skin from getting dry. And I won’t worry so much about them. If I get them, I will know they came from giving life.

I got stretch marks after my second one and after that the old ones just stretched out again and again. Of course they are permanent.I never used anything for ,I figured the stuff on the market didn't do any good any way. If you are young enough they will fade mostly anyway.
