I was reading about swimming classes for babies as young as 3 months. I thought this might be something we'd want to look into after the baby is born. Have any of you taken your infant to swim class? If so, what did you think of it.

My mother used to live in a gated community with a pool. We went there often, as soon as they were potty trained (I don't think they had waterproof diapers yet), they were in the water. They really loved it.

My nephew took them, he is currently competively swimming. I have never seen a 7 year old swim that fast!!

Sounds like it's a pretty good thing to do then. Thanks for the replies. Do you think 3 months is too young to start? That's what the website suggested, but I think that might be a little too early.

Babies should be taught to swim at an early age, I think.

I'll definitely be taking my babies to a swim class the minute they are old enough. Babies learn to swim so much easier than adults do. Probably because they don't know they're supposed to be afraid.

I was like a fish in water and that was because I was taken to pools when I was a baby. I loved to swim. Babies really don't know what fear is about so get them in the water as soon as you can before they know what fear is.

Swimming can be fun for some but a terror to others. My neice would scream bloody murder if she even was put near the wading pool. She got over it, but now she tans by the pool and will only get in for a dip. What a bore...lol

Im going to sign my child up for a few classes this summer. Its a good skill to have and im sure it will be fun. Maybe it will turn into a future sport for my youngster.

My baby girl took swimming leasons. Allthough its more like splashing leasons. She had a great time doing it, I recomend it to all parents.

I think I might talk to my wife about taking swimming lessons with my son. :)

You read daily where small children drown in the family pool. Yes, take baby to swimming classes ASAP.

Having been a swimmer most of my life and competing in high school, it was important for me to expose my son to it at an early age. I think it is a great idea that everyone who has the means and access to do it should. This is especially good for people who live around pools. You should remember though that they are not so afraid of water when they are two or three and they need to be watched more when they are near places with water.
