How do you deal with it! My little one is miserable. I have been rubbing his gums, giving him cold chew toys and cold spoons. Nothing seems to help for long. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes he will just have to go through the stage, just make sure that everything is is okay, he's clean and fed, he has his favorite toys to play with if he wants. The temperature around him may also be a factor. Apart from that just be patient with him, he'll be okay in a little while.

My mom used to give me an ice cube in a wash rag tied with a rubber band. It would keep me quiet for ages. But I'm a sucker for ice and loved eating snow as a kid. I imagine though some babies just aren't as tolerant of the process.

My baby's teether is always placed on the freezer before I gave it to her, since she loves chewing it. He sinks her teeth on it. I believe the cold soothes her gums and made her feel comfortable. :)

You can try it if it can help.

There are gel filled teethers that come in the shape of a hand or fingers. They can be frozen without being a danger like water filled teethers, which keep the colder for longer. These can help.

There are also homeopathic remedies (Hyland's Teething Tabs) that some swear by. Otherwise, when it gets too bad, and especially at bedtime a dose of tylennol may help. At least if they are getting some sleep it can help them cope with the discomfort.

Oh and nursing. Nursing works wonders, but of course you end up being the child's pacifier.

Maybe we can do nothing about it but to keep them as comfortable as possible. My kids always have fever when teething. I just give them a paracetamol and soft foods. After a few days they will be okay already.

The joys of teething babies. The crying from both child and parent. Sometimes you just need to sit with them, my youngest when teething would just want to be held and she would only fuss if she was left alone. The older would fuss anytime no matter what was being done. Stick with it, it does get better.
