What was the first scary thing that you noticed about the baby that had you running for the telephone or paging through a book to find out what to do about it and felt real stupid later?

Mine was after I had fed the baby her first jar of beets. I went to change her diaper and almost freaked! I called my mother, in tears and she kept asking me what I had fed her. When we hit the beets, she just fell out laughing. I felt reeeeal stupid.

Been there, done that. Mine was strained peas. It's amazing the colors that feeding a baby can produce...lol

My first real scare was when he got a bad ear infection and a small flu at the same time. He was crying all the time and constantly threw up. Luckily he was okay :D.

The thing that scared us the most was when my daughter got Pnuemonia. Luckily she recovered, thank God.

A few weeks ago our son bumped his head, nothing to bad but still gave us a scare.

This was too stupid for words... right after my daughter's first birthday party, that night in fact, she had blue poop. It scared me to death. I called my mom, in tears, and she laughed at me. She said "maybe that smurfs themed birthday cake wasn't such a good idea". All that blue icing.... why didn't that dawn on me?

Both kids, the first month the gag reflex (then when they start baby choking), scared the beejees out of me. Mothers instinct kicked in, flip baby over, pay on back, etc. Still bothers me when I think about it though.

OMG. I just shivered remembering.

Night terrors. I actually called 911. I totally thought my baby was dying. He was screaming and freaking out and I could not wake him up. When he woke up I called them back and said I'm an idiot. They never made it to my home but only because he already had a ped appointment for that day for a well baby.

His ped tried not to laugh at me and promised me night terrors wouldn't kill him. Thank goodness he only ever did that one more time.
