View Full Version : The repetitive questioner

Please help! My almost 3 year old is driving me batty! She asks me a question, and I answer it, and then she immediately asks me over and over and over again... leading into a ear-grating whine. I don't want to squelch her natural inquisitiveness, but I can't take it. I've started saying "what was my answer? It was ___" I really think it's more an effort to keep the conversation going (she loves to talk).

An example from this morning:
Her: Mama, are we going to the beach today?
Me: I don't know, we'll have to see what everyone else wants to do.
Her: but are we going to the beach? todaaaay???
repeat ad nauseum

Welcome to the age where they begin to talk and never ever stop. A couple months before Santa comes to visit, my son is all "WHEN WHEN WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEN". Just grin and bare it, sometimes they ask cute things. ;)

Start asking her what you said and have her repeat it. If she doesn't remember tell her again. It will cease being as fun after awhile. Negative attention is always better then no attention. Even if it gives you a headache to ignore the noise.

Gone are the days when you longed for her to talk, never mind, it's phase they pass through, perhaps she just needs the information to be reinforced.
