I am quite alarmed at reading on my birth board of toddlers who are the same age as mine getting tooth cavities that have to be filled. I am paranoid about my daughter's dental care, and hope that it doesn't happen to her, but how do you handle it if it does? Anyone tried watch and wait, or do the little ones get sedated?

With my son I am not as worried as his father has the best teeth I think I have ever seen without any family history of bad issues. Now with my girl, her father and I have both had issues in the past all heredity and I worry for her more. Right now if you count the ones broken over the gum line she has 9 now.

Friends of mine who have had to face this issue have dealt with it differently. One went back for check ups every three months to keep on top of it. The child was older, still baby teeth and they were waiting for them to fall out, which they did before they caused trouble.

I've a friend with an almost three year old who recently found cavities, and they drilled with a very fine drill, without anaesthesia, and then had it sealed with a fluoride releasing sealant. The only paediatric dentists I know of will avoid sedation if possible.
