View Full Version : Too young for one

I have heard both that its never too young and that some kids are too young for computers of their own. Like the Leapfrogs, and so on. I think anywhere past 3 should be fine, if its a computer made for kids, but I keep hearing stories that they will just destroy one no matter what age before 10. I think if you sit down with your child at any age, and teach them what is good and what is not, how to respect their own toys and others, its not that much of a problem. Am I wrong here?

I don't think kids need their own computers until they are in their teens, and are using them for school. I don't like the leapfrogs and such because I think the parents should be spending time reading with the kids, not just giving them a computer.

I don't think its a matter of whether they break it or not, as much as reading myself. A computer system is just like plopping them down in front of the TV and too many parents use toys to replace real parenting. I had a computer system when I was around ten but I wasn't allowed to use it for hours on end and it had very limited things compared to the toys today.
