I remember when I was still in Grade 4, my mother is teaching how to boil vegetables, fry egg, and grill fish properly. It was fun learning this at an early age but it is not very much easy. I remember one time that the oil in the frying pan splattered and some of the boiling oil went to my arms which immediately made blisters. But it did gave me a lesson on how to fry properly.

Do you ever teach your children in cooking? If so, when is the right time for you?

I started slowly with prep of measuring food and drying dishes (their own plastic ones) and worked from there. We don't fry much so thats not an issue for our household, but we paid attention to the proper way to cut things with sharp knives and handle hot cookware once we felt they were old enough and responsible enough.

I let my kids help with prep work and measuring and stirring things. I don't let them near the stove yet - my oldest is 7. I have a gas stove which makes me a little more nervous about them getting too close.
