I know some, if not many, people do this thing. The parents do the house work while the baby is sitting in the couch watching TV. What do you think about this kind of babysitting?
For me, it is never a good thing to let the children watch TV without any adults watching with them. They needed guidance on what is best to watch and what are the things that are not to be watch.

Well, it depends on what they are watching...I allowed the kids to watch, sesame street, mr. rogers stuff like that, or an age appropriate movie is fine. As long as the kid isn't in front of the tube all day...Or access is monitored I see no problem with it all. Free rane to watch whatever NO.

I've definitely let my kids watch a video tape that was age appropriate so I could get dishes done while I was home alone. I normally peeked in every ten minutes or so to make sure nothing was wrong. I definitely wouldn't let them watch TV without guidance, and not for more than a couple hours a day.

Yes, I have done this too. I would doubt that there are many parents out there that have successfully not done it.
For me it is a matter of risk. If there is more risk of her getting hurt by being with me with whatever I am doing, then I don't take her. Otherwise I get her involved in my chores.
There are only certain things my youngest watched with myself and her Daddy. I don't like the idea of a TV watching my child, and the only time she is alone with the TV may end up being for 20 minutes, tops.

I think its ok if what the kids are watching are educational and its for on their age level. Barney could be their babysitter while you could do some house chores.

I have StarChoice so I usually flip the channel to Treehouse TV and leave it on that channel, sometimes I pop in a Disney or Barney video but I try not to let Alicia watch to much television. If I am doing the dishes she sits at the table with her crayons and paper.
