Do you use a V-Chip? It basically blocks shows with a rating not approved for children. I personally don't, but my neighbors are complete sticklers. They have anything above 7 or older blocked.

I agree with you on that. It doesn't make sense to wait for the child to be in his 20s seeing these things for the first time.

I don't see a need for that. Just pay attention to your children. Let them know what shows you think are okay for them to watch and what you'd prefer they not watch.

I agree with loops. They're inventing all these gadgets to take the place of good parenting skills. I don't agree with that. You should know what your children are watching. In fact, you should probably be watching with them.

there is always somebody around in my house so its pretty hard for my little sister to watch something bad with out us knowing.

I have a TV with a V-chip, but I never used it for my kids. I was the V-chip!

Kids can learn to get around anything, so a V-chip just doesn't do it.

I don't think I will use one. When I was a child (I was born in 1988), I would always find ways around everything, and my son is learning a lot from me already.

Be the parent! Yes, block what is truly offensive, but you have to set the boundaries and rules and make sure they're understood and followed. But remember that your rules and blocking are in your house not in your child's friends' houses.
