I’m 52 and my oldest son is almost 20. He doesn’t look like he’s going to be giving me any grandchildren any time soon. That’s ok with me. I hate to see people rushing into marriage and parenthood.

My mother was 37 when my sister had her first child. Thinking about that now, it does seem kind of young.

How bout the rest of you grandparents? How old were you when your first grandchild came along?

I was 42, my daughter was 26 when my first grandchild was born. Yes, I was WAY to young to be having children when my daughter was born.

I was 45 or 46 when the first grandchild came along, and my husband 48 I think, and man were we ever ready ! Didn't think we'd ever get grandbabies ! I made my parents grandparents when they were 38!!!!!!!!! Too young (me) maybe, but in our case it worked out....As Erma Bombeck said, 'Had I known how wonderful grandchildren were I'd have had them first!", There is no subsitute, they are the most wonderful thing in life ever!
