Has anyone given any thought to what you would do if you had a baby with a defect? Would you keep the baby or give it up? They are very expensive and if you have no insurance , how would you afford to care for it?:( Any advice here?

Almost all major defects have funds to help out parents, even those with insurance. I personally don't know what I would do as I've never had a child let alone one with a defect, but I would hope I could find the strength to be their for my baby.

I could never give up my baby, even if there were major defects. As purple said, there are usually programs out there to help. Thankfully I live in Canada so medical would be covered, to a point.
I have been blessed with the 3 most beautiful children in the world (OK so I may be a bit biased) and thankfully they are the picture of health. But if one of them had been born less than perfect, they would still be perfect in my eyes. For better or worse, I am their mother.

I think there are lots of community and charity groups that is willing to help your baby. If that would happen to me maybe I don't know what will I do. But the best thing to do for me is to hold on with GOD. :)

I do not care how my baby is-she is my baby and I will love her and care for her till the day I die. I refused all but the least invasive of testing, as I do not want to risk the pregnancy.

I would never abort, and so I won't take any risks.

There was a baby I know of here that was born with a rare birth defect.It looked like his face was caving in.Terrible and rare also. It was the parents first child. People gave a benefit for them to help with medical bills from surgery. I and my family were there to help. My mother in-law arranged the benefit.

That must be heart rending for any parent, but to each his own, I don't know what I would do. In love I may have to give up the child or care for him\her myself.
