I started planning what I'd name my babies when I was a little girl. Those names stuck with me, and that's exactly what I ended up naming my kids. I know a lot of people never give it a thought until their baby is almost due (my daughter is still searching for "the perfect name"), but I guess I just always wanted to be a mommy.

I guess I always wanted to name a son after myself, and since Im having a son I get my wish.

We started kicking around names as soon as we found out the procedure had worked. The implant was successful and our surrogate is carrying twins. We'll probably still be kicking around names when our surrogate is in labor.

My wife and I agreed that if we had a boy I would get to name him, and if we had a girl she would get to name her. We had a girl so she picked the name.

Sometimes I wished that you could take the baby home and them name them. Traditional family names are cool, but how do you know what your baby's personality will be like? Will the name fit the baby? The person that comes into the room to register the baby's name after the baby is born kind of makes you feel like you haven't done your job. I wasn't sure when my daughter was born and asked if I could do it later and she said that the hospital records had to have a name before the baby left. I popped one out and had it registered. The name I picked seems to have worked for her, but if it hadn't then someone would have been unhappy about it.

I have a cousin that didn't name her babies right away. She gave it quite some time to let the babies name themselves. I don't know how she managed that. I also don't know how she was able to collect welfare for those children without birth certificates. I don't remember how old they were when they finally got their names and when Jenny (she's Freedom now) finally got their birth certificates.
I have been thinking of baby names all of my life, and luckily I had one my wife liked :).

I always new what I wanted to name my daughter, Kelsey Marie. These two names were my best friends and they supported me.
I think I've always had names I like floating around in the back of my mind. But we won't actually choose a name until we know there's a baby on the way.
