Bubs is still tiny-only a few weeks old. She nurses a lot and my appetite is HUGE because of that.

When is it safe (as in when will it not impact my milk supply) to start minding my calorie intake?

I think as long as you eat healthy you should be okay. I maintained a good weight while I was pregnant but it skyrocketed once I started breastfeeding, I was in the fridge in the wee hours of the morning. Make sure you have healthy foods on hand at all times, this will make a big difference.

Yes, I agree. Eat healthy while nursing and you may be surprised at the results. (As in you won't be gaining weight but possibly losing) I didn't start minding my caloric intake until I stopped nursing.

It is recommended to eat your normal consumption of calories plus 500 while breastfeeding. There are calculators online that can tell you what you should be consuming for weight loss (just remember to add 500). You could also ask your doctor.

I just started trying to loose my baby-weight. All 50 pounds of it!! I strickly breastfeed only ( because breastfeeding is the #1 best thing for babies), and hopefully that will also help me loose weight! ha! But, I also try to eat very healthy and walk/jog on my treadmill. I just find it so hard to find the time away from my little sweetheart to do that. And I am not ready for anyone to take care of her but me. She is 9 weeks old now.

I don't have a huge amount to lose but I don't want to gain either and my huge appetite worries me. If I know that I am safe to start then I will get into a healthier routine again.
