I was on my favorite coupon forum and they were discussing a sale on Oragel brand tooth and gum cleaner. I was appalled to learn it sells for over $4 for one teeny tube and a rubber finger cover. I picked up two packs for .99 this evening using coupons, but how the heck do they justify this stuff costing so much? Regular oragel isn't any better in price.

It's the same with formula. The price of that is just outrageous these days! I thought it was expensive when my kids were little but the prices now are insane. No wonder there is more of a trend back towards breast feeding. I know it's better for the baby but I'll bet a lot of women don't have the choice given the costs.

Not just expensive, but hard to get too. It's in the back of the pharmacy here now, and when I tried to get some for my son (my third child for pete's sake) I was given the riot act. I guess people have given too much of it and baby has choked? Well, duh, I don't plan to pour the whole tube down my child's throat LOL. I went to another pharmacy and was able to get it easier there.

It's expensive because they know moms and dads will pay whatever amount needed to elp get through the teething process.
The tubes are little but mine always lasts for a long time. You're only supposed to use a pea size amount on the baby's gums.

I think your on to something there. Teething is always such a fun time to deal with and if you can find it, many will use it just to get an hours nap if they can. Been there and done that with my first.

The toddler training toothpaste isn't much better. Granted I'm hoping its healthier should your child swallow it, but $4+ for a little tube compared to under $3 for a big tube of most adult pastes is kind of insane. Another thing to add to the list why I am not having kids right now. I could never stomach spending that much on teething meds.

Brand name is a big thing, they are able to charge that much and still sell because of their brand image and the perception of the consumers, that it is actually saver for their kids.
