View Full Version : You don't always have to nurse...

...I know to some it might not seem right, but I did not nurse anyone of my children, and they all ended up fine. Nothing major really happened to them. I had a special bond with each of my children and I loved them all. I just never felt the need to nurse. Plus, I feel now that the baby formulas we have available are some of the best pieces of nutrition we could give, these people know what they are doing. I also can suggest an alteration between nursing and bottle feeding.

We think we are going to go ahead and brestfeed. My wife feels like it is something special and that she is giving her baby only the best. You do make some good points though.

I've heard a lot of differing opinions on this. A lot of people think breast milk is healthier, but a lot of people also think formula is just as good. I'm not really sure where I stand on the subject. Formula is my only option because of medication I'm taking. Ultimately, it's a personal decision. You have to do whatever you're most comfortable with.

If it's just a matter of not wanting to breast feed in public, you can always put the breast milk into bottles. It might be a little more convenient for you. But if you just feel like formula is your better option, then go that route. Millions of babies are formula fed and do just fine.

Of course you don't HAVE to. If anyone tries to make you do anything you really aren't comfortable with they are overstepping themselves. I hope noone feels guilty because they couldn't or just really didn't want to nurse. It doesn't mean you loved your baby any less.

My aunt, who sent me here is unable to breast feed with either of her two children, I have been the only one in the family so far that can. We have no idea why, maybe I get it from my dads side of the family?? I think her children are just fine with being fed formula, she is really careful about what she feeds them, and right now even a couple of months later, I am still getting used to the idea.
