Bath Toys

At what age do kids no longer need bath toys or it is ok to start weaning them away?

I can't recall when my parents took mine away, but I'm imagining it was when I decided to be like my dad and take showers not baths. I don't take many baths to this day so I really didn' have much use for tub toys from then on out.

I think the bath to shower is a good time. Right now my girl is almost 2 and barely uses hers at all she just likes to hold one and keep that one for fun time.

My little girl is just starting to take showers. She seems to like them ok and it does save on the water we use. Although, she still has 3-4 toys she likes to put in the shower with her. She just doesn't have as much time to play with them as she did when we were doing baths all the time.

What if she just wants to make sure they get clean too? I have seen this a couple of times with little ones that will take the time to wash their toys.....so adorable.

Just curious, but why do you feel the need to wean them from bath toys? They will give them up when they are ready.

We are a mostly showering family, but the kids do play with toys in the shower.

I wouldn't worry about weaning them off bath toys. My daughter is 8 and still plays with her toys (especially dolls) in the bath and shower. I am sure she'll give them up when she is ready.

Up until last year, when he was 14, my son would take an action figure into the tub with him. He would try to sneak them back out, so his younger sister wouldn't find out- she would have teased him terribly if she'd found out. He thinks he's definitely too big now. I say just let them decide for themselves, they'll know.
