Beans

A friend suggested cooking dry beans in a crock-pot and then serving them to my toddler, she does it for hers. I don't know why I didn't think of it before! He really loves them and they are a great way for him to practice using his spoon without making a huge mess everywhere. Just make sure they are cooked well so they aren't a chocking hazard!

How does that work on the gas on the other end? I know we enjoy eating alot more beans than some people but the gas can be pretty bad some days as a result.

If you soak them overnight first they are much easier to digest, it reduces the starches that are hard on the human digestive track.

My son loves beans, my daughter wouldn't eat them from 18 month to about 3, and now she like them again... go figure.

He gets a little bit more gas, but it doesn't seem to cause him any distress. He just laughs when it happens and tries to figure out what it was.

Too funny, Mommy2five that is pretty hilarious. Must have soaked them pretty good so he would not be cramped up. I'd imagine if you give them is small doses then it is okay.

I can't imagine a baby liking these? I don't even like the taste or texture. Then again if you get them to start eating beans at this age they might like them when they are older.
