Break Time for New Parents

As grandparents are you planning to give the new parents a break?

I know that when I had my two it wasn't my mom that came to my rescue at times, but my sister-in-law. She would come over early on a Saturday morning, help me pack up both kids, all their stuff and off she would go. She'd keep them until Monday afternoon and she had two kids herself! She was an angel!

my wifes parents are there if we need them, we dont like to rely on them to much because they have lives of there own. But if for some reason both my wife and I are bussy they live close enough to help out.

and Ryan loves them.

I know that when my daughter has children I am really looking forward to spending time with my grandchildren. I know how tough it was as a first time mom and getting some needed sleep is just as important for the mom as it is for the baby.

When my son's wife became pregnant, I offered that once she was ready to be away from the baby, they could count on me having her all night ever friday night. At first she didn't take me up on it, but now (baby is 17 months) and I have her nearly every friday. Some times the parents go out some times not, but would've absolutely LOVED to know when I was a new parent that I could look forward to a day every week when I could get a break. Also gives them time to 'try' and stay a couple, not just parents which I think is VERY difficult to do. Also allows me and Poppy to have, and build a solid relationship with our grand daughter.
