I had an emergency c-section with my youngest because the cord was wrapped around his neck and his heartbeat was disappearing. That was very scary. I would hope that a scheduled c-section would be much calmer! I also refused a spinal because I am just a chicken. So they put me completely out. This made my recovery longer, they said. I was doped up on morphine and that made me just fade in and out most of the day after the baby was born. I also had some other complications that are not typical in a vag or c-section birth.
The best thing to do to speed your recovery is get out of bed and walk. The more you walk the faster you will feel better. Just don't overdo it! When I say walk alot, I mean walk around the maternity ward a few times. Trust your body to tell you when enough is enough. You don't want to pass out in the hallway!

And when you get home, rest when you feel the need to rest, but don't force yourself to do nothing. You will know what is too much. But do allow people to pamper you, because it won't last long! Also, don't lift anything but the baby for those first few weeks. This is to keep your stiches from ripping.
