Canteen food

Some grade schooler prepares money over food. They always want to buy some junk foods like chocolate and soda. The food quality is not that good, compare to a home made food. Would you allow your children to eat such food?

I used to be allowed some small treat such as gummy snacks or a snack sized candy bar daily in my lunch. I haven't heard of a grade school that sells such things in the cafeteria locally though. I wouldn't allow a child to purchase such things for lunch as it sets up bad habits.

I am not surprised at all. I graduated in the late 90's and I can tell you when I was in grade school, we had a junk bar (what I call it). I hardly if every ate there, oddly ours had junk food and fruits - I kept to the fruits.

Some school allows this to earn more by selling junk food to the kids. As if they are not there to guide the child, they didn’t care much about the well being of the child. They’re only concern is to earn more money. Some school owners can be so greedy sometimes. I have based this on my past experience when I was still teaching some grade school students.

That is where the parent teachers association should come in. After finding out what they are selling your kids at school, you should team with other parents and get the junk thrown out.
