I never thought kids could covet something as much as a cell phone...it's crazy. With much debate we finally got our two 7th graders phones. More for safety than anything else. But we have ALOT of restrictions. What are your opinions on getting your kids cell phones at an early age.

My daughter has had a cell phone since she was 10. She is almost 14 now. She had to start walking to and from school every day when she was 10. There are almost no payphones in my town. There was no way she was walking without having a phone with her. I bought her one. She didn't have text only calls then. Now she has text and she is good with it. We tell her it has to be up every night by 9 pm.

My kids both have cell phones too. I don't mind really, I like the thought that I can reach them anytime. They also are pretty involved in sports and other activities at school. I like them to be able to call me if a practice is over early.
