Chosing a boy or girl!

Has anyone read up on positions and timing that favor certain genders. My husband and I are hoping to get pregnant with a girl but of course we'd be happy either way. I've done A LOT of reading online and there's a lot of different things they say you can do to favor certain gender..... my question is if anyone has actaully tried to get prego with a certain gender and has succeded?

Scientific studies have shown position and timing does not change your chances of having a boy or a girl. What determines gender is the sperm provided by the father, not the egg provided by the mother.

The only techniques which have succeeded in gender selection involve separating or destroying the sperm, such as through manual fertilization or sperm filtering. Both are expensive, and the latter is still experimental not used because it's less practical. Neither can be done at home nor are practical for most people.

People have tried for thousands of years. I guarantee the day they find a practical way to do this, people will use that instead of existing methods.

Actually, you can *increase your chances* but it's not easy to do... because from what I understand, "boy" sperm and "girl" sperm are different -- "boy" sperm are faster but die sooner, while "girl" sperm are slower but live longer... so if you have sex 4-5 days before ovulation and not again, your chances of a girl are higher... and if you mostly have sex right at ovulation, it's more likely to be a boy.

So I've read.
