Coffee anyone?

I drink coffee. So naturally when I was pregnant, many people told me to quit the coffee. I didn't quit, but simply cut my coffee cups from four to one a day. I think a little is okay, because there is caffeine in so many food items nowadays anyway. Tea contains almost as much caffeine as coffee and caffeine is also present in a lot of moms' - that I know of - favorite, chocolates. :P

BUT of course, if you quit your cuppa altogether, that's even better.

It sometimes happens that you go off things like coffee and tea when you are pregnant. I went off tea completely and haven't drunk it since. Your body knows what it needs and what it doesn't!

From what I have read as long as you keep your caffeine consumption below 200mg a day you are okay. Not sure how much is is one cup of coffee but I did switch to decaf.

Reducing is a good thing. Sounds like you've justified your coffee drinking. There are worse things you could be ingesting. Do your best. I drank coffee during my pregnancies and I swear these kids have ADD.

Actually I haven't had much coffee it seems to make me nauseous if I am not already but I have had one or two can cokes a day and they do seem to help with the sick feeling. 1 12 oz can is 34 mg of caffeine.

I was told I could have 2 cups of caffeine a day so that is what I did. I had a coffee in the morning and a coke in the afternoon. I found a big glass of cold water would wake me up pretty good most days.

My wife rarely drinks caffeine to begin with so it was not hard for her to cut it out almost completely. Every now and then she will have a cup of coffee or a coke but it is more like once or twice a month.
