We didn't have a video camera for my first birth, which ended up being a section, and my second was a failed VBAC and a second section. We had a camera for that and my husband did video parts of it, and I LOVE having those shots, since I couldn't see what was going on. He also videoed (sp?) the 3rd.....

I'm not sure I would want a video of my own vaginal birth.....at least, I certainly wouldn't show it to everyone, LOL.

That's funny that you say that Urbanmom... because I'm not sure I'd want a video of my section, and I wouldn't want to show that to everyone! Though if I do for some reason end up with a c/s, I DO want it videoed. For some reason,to me, a section seems more... intimate(not quite the right word, but you know) than vaginal birth. weird? Like I wouldn't so much mind showing someone willing shots of a vaginal delivery, but shots of a surgical delivery seem more private.

I wouldn't want to be recorded while giving birth. My husband wanted to but I told him that there was no way I would let him do that.

I was in the delivery room with my wife when she bore Cham but I would never record any birth of my child. The memory of it should be told and not be seen.

It is better to tell how my son was born rather than seeing the film by himself. I would love to hear him someday asking "did I cry immediately?" or "do I have hair when I was born?".

Having a camera or camcorder was not an option for anyone in my family. I told them don't come in the room with one. I did not want pictures took of me giving birth.

Odd, I swear I've replied to this thread before, but I guess I didn't. I had both mine videoed, my dad did it each time. I love watching them, and we used the tape of my daughters birth to help prepare her for our son's birth (since she was there). I love that on both tapes we have that moment where I announce "it's a girl" and "it's a boy". And the sound of a newborn's cry gets me everytime.

We did not tape our child births, since it honestly was not something that either of us would want to watch again. The same goes for the children for that matter!

I doubt they would want to watch their own child birth either, but who knows?

We did take a few photos however!

Not really. We have some film from early in labor, but my son was an emergency C-section, so no video allowed. I do have some gory pics though.
