Did you think?

When naming your baby did you think about how you would feel if that name had been given to you?

Mostly we just thought about how our families would feel if we didn't choose a name they liked. We had pretty much settled on the name Matthew but we needed a middle name. Everybody pressured us into naming him after somebody (and southern names are just really awful sometimes). We ended up choosing David for a middle name. Then when they questioned us about the relative names we didn't use, we told them we chose names from the Bible. That seemed to make everybody happy. Well.... almost everybody. Granny still wanted him to be named Nimrod.

I think the mom pretty much picks the baby name. Dad's don't get a whole lot of say-so. I never gave any thought to how I'd feel if I were given one of the names off our list, because we have good names on our list.

I did for my youngest 2 daughters but my first daughter, Lauren, was given her name because it's a family name on her dads side. We were about to name her after a family memember on my side. Good thing we didn't she's such the Daddy's Girl.
