Eating Paper?

My middle niece has started to eat paper at pre school when she's bored. She obviously knows this isn't encouraged, and she should be getting fed enough (or at least offered enough food). Any real concerns with this or ideas to get her to stop?

Shouldn't hurt her

I had one daughter who would put everything in her mouth. It's like she had a need to taste everything. The worst scare was a mushroom but that's another story. Paper shouldn't be a problem but is she doing it a lot? Or did she get a strong reaction the first time? Sometimes things like this can be for attention or she could be nervous in the pre-school setting.

Or did she have to give up a pacifier for school?

I don't think it's a HUGE concern, probably something that, without much attention, will go away fairly quickly. Both my kids have gone through paper eating stages, but as babies, not preschoolers.
