Enamel Is Leaving

My three year old daughter's two front teeth have spots right below the gum line that look like the enamel is coming off the teeth. Right now, they don't look awful and I'm trying to keep her teeth brushed at least twice a day. My nephew's front teeth did the same thing and he had to have them surgically removed. I am going to take her to a dentist soon so a professional can look at them.

There are "natural" things you can do for enamel loss on baby teeth, but I highly recommend seeing a dentist immediately.

My 16 month old son developed caries on his baby teeth (top side ones, between the front two and the canines). We have elected not to fill them or have them pulled at this time. But I have a very stringent routine I follow to protect his teeth, and the decay has not advanced in 3 months, so that is promising (the decay appeared less than 3 months after the teeth erupted). I highly recommend researching xylitol as an addition to your brushing routine. We also have started giving fish oil and calcium supplements in addition to the xylitol, and we use a product called "MI paste" on his teeth, it's a remineralizer.

Thanks Seattle_mom! I will look up xylitol and see how attainable it is and what it does. They don't seem to hurt her at the moment, so that is good.

If you have an questions about it, just let me know! I did so much research on it when we discovered my boy's caries.

How much do any of these natural (less harmful) items cost? I have looked some places up online that I think are charing way too much for other natural products but Im not sure for anything on teeth.

The Xylitol, the pure, granulated powder costs about $6 a pound. You can use that as a supplement to brushing, or buy something like Spry toothpaste. Spry is a Xylitol paste, and the infant one costs just a bit less than $5 a tub. The child rather than infant one is $5 for twice as much.

The MI paste is expensive, $25 for 40g.
