Fast food is not necessarily a bad thing for kids, it's just like everything else ~ moderation. I see nothing wrong with taking your child there for a treat as the original poster stated.

There are so many fast food restaurants that now serve "better choices" such a apples and milk with their kids meals. I don't see why parents can't start this way. I went to Mc's as a child with my gram and it was great. We didn't go very often, it was truly a treat.

When I was growing up, fast food was something we got as a treat very rarely. It was more valuable back then because of that. Now it's just a common food in society. I have been learning about nutrition and being more healthy now, and while I do things to make my body healthy, I occasionally do splurge on fast food. I will not get my son into eating it though. We're going to teach him the benefits of eating healthy and the consequences of letting yourself induldge in everything salty, greasy, and sweet. We won't deny him things, but they won't be a huge part of his diet, at least while we still have a say in it.

My kids do not do this and we have recently halted almost all fast food deals. In the past 6 months we may have gone twice. I know other parents seem to not care and to a point I can understand it. Compared to eating healthy, FF is cheaper.

You're definately right about fast food being cheaper. It costs more to eat healthy, especially if you eat all organic fruits and vegetables. I'm not going to ask my husband to give up everything he loves but he is going along with me the best he can in nutrition.

I say that fast food is not bad when you eat there every once in a while (as a treat) but so many parents eat there all the time.

It's sick! I think parents should be held accountable for their kids weight.

Oh I agree Bersmom. I don't live in a cave or anything. I do eat it because it does taste good, but it's not a main part of my nutrition. My diet consists of things that cleans and detox me so it's ok if I have a coke and a hamburger once in a while. It won't drag me down or anything.

I think in moderation as an occasional treat it's fine. It definitely is cheaper than eating and cooking healthy. My daughter actually prefers veggies and fruits to any kind of junk thankfully!
