Fast food

It breaks my heart every time I run into McDonalds and see really heavy little kids. They order off the adult menu not even the kids menu. I just can't see how these parents let them.
I take my daughter there for a treat, but she is not obese.

For those kids, McDonald's is probably standard fare instead of a treat. Too many parents use fast food instead of cooking at home these days.

I guess they just figure their child has a large appetite and it's their job to satisfy it? Some children are just bigger than others, but it's usually obvious which are "built solid" and which are overweight.

Oh Mcdonalds. I haven't met a kid that wouldn't get excited over a trip to the Big Mac D. My own loves it everytime and I always encourage her to have those apple pies because I love them myself.

I love Mcdonalds and it's always a good experience for me and my kid.

As parents I think we should educate our kids about healthy eating while treating them to those awesome milkshakes! Ironic yea, but if we drill it in them enough they're subconscious mind will absorb what we instill in them every time.

My son likes to go their for treats but not my daughter. She is 7 years old and has decided to be a vegetarian. She would rather go to other places because she does not feel they offer a proper meal for a vegetarian.

Yeah, and childhood obesity is just getting worse. Has anyone seen Too Fat for 15? Its about children who go to a camp/school to lose weight. One girl on there is 11 years old and like started 100 pounds overweight. She did not get that way on her own. You can't blame an 11 year old.

Oh yeah, the other day in whole foods, I added a dollar to my purchase to help get salad bars in schools!

I feel bad for these kids because we all know it isn't their fault. I started my kids early on a healthy diet and to this day they will ask to have yogurt or carrots with ranch for a snack. And if we go their for a treat they usually order chicken nuggets, apple fries, and a milk on their own. I am proud of my kids smart choices and for teaching them young.

We try just not to even allow our little one to have fast food. Obesity is a problem in both sides of the family and that just seems like borrowing trouble to me.

Nothing aggravates me more than a parent that only takes their kid to fast food and then wonders why they are sick all the time or obese! I understand convince, but I can whip up simple dinners in a pinch..what ever happened to a simple sandwich if your in a hurry?

Fast food is such a bad thing for children. It is unfortunate that parents bad habits are passed down to their kids along with the wight that is gained from it. I think if you are going to go out to fast food with your children teach them the 'best' choices.
