Rotes Gesicht Formula Sensitivity

My almost 4 month old was placed on Similac Alimentum due to his consistent fussiness. Once we switched he became a totally different happy baby. I just tried to wean him back onto the regular Similac Advance due to the fact that the Alimentum is SO expensive and I noticed a slight change back to the old fussy baby he used to be. Any suggestions. I thought that he would have begun to outgrow this bit of colicky, gassy, fussy stuff that he had after he was born. Also, if he seems to be sensitive to the actual milk protein in the regular formula, does that mean he will have milk sensitivities even as he gets older. My question is, I guess, will he grow out of this sensitivity or is this something we will be dealing with consistently with his diet as he grows and moves onto solid foods.
