Getting "me" time

Do you every get a chance to have time to yourself? Do you make it a priority to do so? Every now and again I leave the kids with my husband for a day to do some research for my genealogy. That's my escape, and I always come home feeling great!

Me time... if you count sewing after the kids go to bed at night; yeah. That happens once every so often when I shirk my household duties and sew instead of tidy up.

Going out for me time is very, very rare. The last time I did was in March, for a conference, and that was the first time since becoming a mother that I was gone for more than 2 hours. (and being gone for 2 hours doesn't happen often either).

About the only me time I get is when my husband takes the kids outside for a while or after they go to bed. But, I'm usually so tired by the time the kids go to bed, that all I do is sit in a fog for a few minutes and then go to bed myself. My birthday is next Friday and I'm getting some me time then if I have to put everyone in the car myself and tell my husband to drive and not come home for at least an hour!

The only real "Me" time I get is actually "Us" time. My hubby is off on Fridays and we try to go out to eat while the kids are in school and then pick them up afterwards. Occasionally, we do this during the summer too, if they happen to spend the night with my Mom. But, to say actual "Me" time, I don't think I've had any time just to relax alone in the past 14 years. That's ok though b/c I wouldn't trade my life as mom and wifey for anything.

I occasionally get "Me" time on the weekend. My hubby sometimes likes to take our little girl out for a Daddy/Daughter day to give me a break. They will go to a movie or hit the mall and I'm free to do whatever I choose. I don't usually do anything special because this is when I sometimes do extra homework ahead or get the laundry caught up. Every now and then he will tell me he's planning this on a certain Saturday and I call my best friend and we go hang out. I think I'm really blessed to have a hubby who enjoys being a Dad so much.
