Getting pregnant while breastfeeding?

Its not an issue for me, but I have a friend that is trying to get pregnant again but is still nursing her 2 year old. She has resumed her periods, so thats not a problem. My concern for her is that if she is still nursing couldn't that affect her pregnancy nutrition wise? Should she increase her vitamins and healthy food intake?

If she is nursing she should already be eating pretty healthy. It wouldn't hurt to take more vitamins because your body will only keep what you need and excrete what you don't. I know a couple lady's that got pregnant 4 or 5 months after they gave birth and nursed all the way till the next baby was born. She should start to wean her 2 year old though so she won't have 2 in her lap all the time. Her body will adjust to the demand if she continues to nurse both.

That might not be a problem. When I became pregnant while nursing, my milk changed and the baby wouldn't nurse. But two is the age when they should be weaned.

I think I would go ahead and try and wean the two year old before the next child is born but that is just my personal preference.
