Giving Extra Attention, How Do You Do It?

Well my brother is a special child and really needs extra attention especially when he was growing up. My brother just got lucky because the cousins of my father stayed in our house and so if my parents are on the work, may aunts could still take care of my brother and give the attention that he needs.

But for those who doesn't have extra people living in the house to take care a special child, what are the ways you do in order to give that extra attention they needed? Do you bring them to work or have a babysitter take care of them?

Well it depends on the level of their disability (if that's how I'm reading your post - I apologize if I'm reading your post). I personally was a sick child through the first 4 years of my life I'll admit. I was spoiled rotten and I grew up with adults all the time.

But as for giving a child special attention - I wouldn't give them things constantly because they'll grow to expect it. Spend some time every day and just focus on them and nothing else. But make it fun - not like work.

My daughter is not disabled, however she is very high needs. It can be hard to work, and still find all the time that she needs for me to be with her. I often lose sleep to keep up with everything I need to do, and still give her the time she wants and needs.

She is so very smart, and so I have to give her the learning time she needs.

Wow that sounds like you've got a lot on your hands!!

Are there other family members that can assist you or help you out so you're able to get the sleep or things that you need?
