Halloween Cut-Off Age?
What is the Trick or Treating cut-off age for your children? I feel they can go out as much as they feel like it, but I probably would advise them in their teens that they are too old, especially if they are driving to the neighborhood they're trick or treating at.

I didn't stop trick-or-treating till I graduated high school. Admittedly some people wouldn't give you candy if you were older, but we still went anyway. I think its pretty rotten of people to impose an age limit on a holiday. You don't stop giving Christmas presents when people get older. If the area you live in is the candy stingy type perhaps encourage the older kids to hold a party instead and have everyone bring a bag of candy to share to mimic the mix of candy (the best part apart from the amount you get) or to take younger kids out for parents who have to work.

I think if you can still walk from neighborhood to neighborhood, then its all good, it doesn't matter the age. And I would rather see more teens helping out with their siblings, or younger kids they know that see a ton of them just wander the streets aimlessly. The only reason I am not going out this year is b/c I am under the weather, otherwise I would be right there. Maybe next year since my girl is still kind of young.

I agree that they should get to go as long as they arent' causing trouble ! And take the time and effort to dress up etc. I always give candy even to the teen agers. But I do dislike it when they show up at the door without even the slightest costume! Come on some effort! I too trick or treated till about 15 or 16!

My son is fifteen and he does not even want to trick or treat this year. He would rather go to a friend's house for a Halloween party. He was nice and volunteered to help me with his two younger sisters, as long as we got home early enough!

I was about fifteen when I stopped. My oldest was thirteen the last year she went. My son went last year but seems to be planning on not going this year. My thirteen year old though, still enjoys it.

If I told you that I Trick or treated a few times in my 20's, would you look at me funny?
The cut-off age is whenever the kids want it to be I think.
Some people refuse to give out candy to older children, but I see no real problem with it myself.

I would not look at you funny I would just ask why you are not dressed up this year (if its a year you are not out and about). I always dress up, its the day you can be anything you want and get stares but its okay since everyone gets stares that day.

Halloween is just such a fun holiday, and I don't think kids should stop until they grow tired of it!
Dressing up and begging for candy is fun for all ages!
Even us adults sometimes get the urge to escape reality for a day or 2, and dress up as a vampire or something!
