Has anyone considered a made-up name?

You know what I mean don't you? David Bowie called his son Zowie, which was made-up and there have been loads of others, usually celebrities I grant you, but there's no reason why you shouldn't. See if you can suggest some unusual ones like, Trillia or Soochie.

I have never thought too much outside the box when it comes to names unless its been names for my pets, for some reason that always gets me. When I named a fish fred once everyone thought I was being "too normal".

I don't really like the "far out" names either... I think it's mean to the kids. They almost always get picked on (unless of course their parents are rich and famous).

I agree! Mean to the kids. They are going to have to deal with it forever. Kids making fun of them, people mis spelling it, have to pronounce it for people, always having to explain where it comes from, etc, etc!

I had a name I had planned to use with a daughter - Trenith - that I thought I had made up, until I did a search once and found that it's a fairly common *boy* name in another culture. We have not used it, and I'm thinking we probably won't.
