Holiday Meals for Children

With the holidays coming up and most people fervently planning elaborate meals it got me thinking:what do you allow your children to consume over the holidays? Is it based on their age/development or activity level? Are they allowed what they want to eat but only in moderation?

I'm in the opinion that Christmas comes but once a year so if they want to eat, let them eat. If it's a safety concern, for instance nuts or hard candy for my 2 year old son, then no, but otherwise, go for it. Besides, much of what we eat is healthy anyhow. My middle daughter loves manderain oranges, my oldest loves egg nog. Nuts, even homemade baking is decent.

I would allow them to eat foods I know they can manage, no drinking at all, not even a sip (it will open their appetites.)

Christmas passes only once in a year. Why not allow all the kids to enjoy this part of the year where they could eat anything they want, provided that it will not cause them bad health.
