Hot Totties

Did anyone ever have hot totties when they were younger? My aunt would make us up some with hot water, lemon, sugar and a very small shot of whiskey. She vowed it would whip any cold that came around. All I know is that I hated it with a passion and could barely stomach swallowing it.

I make a hot water/lemon/honey drink when I or my daughter is sick. But I would never give her whiskey, nor myself when I am sick: I think alcohol tends to make it worse.

When my kids are sick with a sore throat or a cough, I give them a spoonful of honey. Yuck, I would never use whiskey! I can't even begin to imagine the taste!

I was never given alcohol as a youngster after teething, and that was only until my parents caught my grandfather doing it. After that there was no more alcohol for the toddler.

I can't say I would give my girl alcohol. I don't even like using cough syrup for myself with alcohol unless need be.
