Lol!
As for me, well I was lucky enough to have labored for just two hours, my little angel is just too eager to get out and didn't want mommy to get hurt and agonize!

Everyone is different. I really don't think it has any family connection. I'm comparing my sisters and myself. One fast and 2 slow. I myself think it depends on how soon you go to the hospital how long before you give birth.I had 4 births and they were all different all were long and induced after a while.Anymore the hospital where I gave birth it was normal procedure to induce or hurry labor along if it was not going fast enough. All my were like that. Two of mine had to have the water bag broken.Thats when labor gets intense.

I had mine in the dark ages 'pre-epideral'...and they pretty much just let you suffer however long it took...Daughter (oldest) was about 18hours...the boy, three, yes I said 3 days! It was awful, (and we both suffered lasting effects from it) but they don't let mothers do that anymore I don't think...both of them too were nearly 10months, one 24 days past due date other 28! I don't think they let that happen anymore either....Our daughter had a really difficult pregnancy and horrible birth. My sister though also carried both of her babys as long as I, so maybe that was genetic in some way. The epiderals are a wonderful invention for todays mothers....

My opinion is the ones that go fast are the lucky ones. I was knocked out at the age of 2o with my first one in the 70's. In the 80's with my second one I had one shot for pain. In the 90's with my 3 rd I had nothing ,natural child birth .I also had a 4 th one in the mid 90's too and it was my chance to have the epidural. I took it and everything was great till it started to leak out onto my back instead of inside my body. I got the full force of the contractions again at 7 centimeters, Just my luck. Here is what I think is the greatest. Have your hubby or someone massage the lower back or where you feel the contractions ,when you feel the contractions. If you are going for natural birth that is the best pain reliever.

I spent hours in labor. I am lucky enough that I am not one of those who take days to labor before giving birth on their babies.

Pre-epidural? I must be post epi then. I used no drugs with any of mine. The release at the end is the best feeling in the world, and the baby is more alert, ready to nurse right away.
My labours were 12,8 and 4 hours each. I don't konow about duration but type of labour is hereditary. My mom and sister both had back labour, I did too, with all three. That is one type of labour I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Somewhere between 6-8 hours. I went to sleep right after the baby was born, I could feel myself falling asleep, I heard them saying, "she's too tired to nurse, allow her to rest". I nursed him later.

I supposed you have seen your baby when he is born. On my experience I fall asleep before giving birth. Maybe they have some medicine injected to make me fall asleep. I never saw any of my kids in the delivery room. I have seen them on the nursery already.

My son was born 12 hours after my contractions began. Once it was time to push it took about 45 minutes. Not too bad for the hardest work I've ever done in my life! Like many in this thread have already said, thank God for epidurals!

For our first child, my wife was in labour for about 10 hours. That was rough. I felt so helpless. However our last two were much easier, less pain and much quicker - as a matter of fact, she nearly had the last child without any help.
